Kalamon variety of olives, with the juicy, tasty flesh are sun-ripened, picked at the black stage of maturity, carefully selected and preserved in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Philippos Hellenic Goods proposes the Premium Gourmet Box which includes 4 packs of 95 g. The olive tree of Kalamata, Olea Europea Kalamon, is a former cultivar of Kalamata, a strong olive producing area in the Gulf of Messinia, Peloponnese, and has widely spread today to the neighboring regions. The characteristics of the fruit, the dark purple color, and the tasty, juicy flesh, make Kalamon the ideal table olives. The olive may be served as an aperitif and is a nutritious snack, enriching salads, and giving a Mediterranean, summer touch to sauces; they also are an essential ingredient in many recipes. Philippos Hellenic Goods offers its olives preserved in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This is not a detail. Once collected and washed to debitter, the olives are preserved in salt water. Only later will they be packed in brine or oil. They will remain there until they are ready to be served. The choice of using Extra Virgin Olive Oil makes the product slightly more expensive but ensures the preservation of all its organoleptic properties: intense dark, shiny color entices tasting; biting the firm texture releases all the flavor of the fruit and a delicate hint of bitterness. PHILIPPOS HELLENIC GOODS Kalamata Olives easily appeals to connoisseurs and amateurs alike, who enjoy the full raw Mediterranean flavors. The vacuum packaging preserves the quality over time. The 95 g sachet ensures prompt use of the product once opened; olives can thus be appreciated in all their fragrance. Olives have a nutritional value similar to that of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. They are rich in fatty acids and anti-oxidants that have a positive effect on cholesterol metabolism and also prevent cardiovascular disease. Aegina pistachios are a protected designation of origin (PDO) variety of pistachios, particularly tasty and savory. Philippos Hellenic Goods proposes two versions, pistachios with and without salt, in our Premium gourmet smart box packaging containing 5 packs of 50 g. Aegina produces a variety of pistachios called Aiginis or Koilarati, meaning round. The pistachio is part of the identity of the island, as the landscape that slopes down from the hill to the sea, covered by small trees with thick, round leaves that protect the pistachio fruit, ripening all summer. The pistachio tree, the species Pistacia Vera, originates in the Middle East. Its cultivation and the progressive importance to the economy of Aegina has it roots since 1860. The terrain features and favorable climate have helped to develop the variety of Aegina Pistachio with designation of origin since 1994. The intense, savory taste of this fruit is considered by gourmets among the best in the world. The pistachio is renowned throughout the world and mainly consumed as an aperitif but it also has its place in the kitchen where it is the star ingredient of original recipes, satisfying both your sight and palate.
